Telus Launches Mobile Music Subscription Service
First North American mobile phone-based music download subscription service enables clients to download all the music they want, for one monthly price
Vancouver, B.C. – TELUS today announced North America’s first music subscription service for mobile phone users, enabling clients to truly satisfy their hunger for music with unlimited downloads from TELUS Mobile Music™ service. With a TELUS Mobile Music subscription, clients can get all the music they want, from hundreds of thousands of hot downloadable music tracks spanning a wide variety of genres from the world’s biggest music labels – EMI Music Canada, SONY BMG MUSIC (CANADA) INC., Universal Music Canada and Warner Music Group.

TELUS Mobile Music subscription service enables clients with the LG Chocolate phone (LG 8500), LG 8100 and Samsung A950 to keep their mobile music play lists up-to-date for one flat monthly fee. For $20 per month ($15 music content charge plus a $5 download charge), clients receive unlimited downloads to their mobile phones. As a special introductory offer, clients who sign-up for the $20 per month subscription on TELUS Mobile Music before December 31, 2006 will receive two months of the service at no charge.
Clients who want to add a little more SPARK™ to their lives can also get unlimited TELUS Mobile Music downloads as part of the SPARK 25 Music Bundle, which also includes MSN Messenger, unlimited text, picture and video messaging, Web browsing, e-mail, caller ID and voice mail 10.
TELUS Mobile Music service offers a full breadth of content served up in a fun and easy-to-use storefront where clients can browse, preview and purchase music right from their mobile phones. With easy to navigate themed categories, such as Divas where users can find music from ‘Canadian Divas’ like Nelly Furtado, ‘Divas in Training’ like Fergie and Norah Jones, ‘Original Divas’ such as Aretha Franklin and today’s ‘Divas’ like BeyoncĂ©, getting music from current favourites and re-discovering classics is made simple.
The TELUS Mobile Music storefront is powered by Musiwave, an Openwave company, and leading provider of mobile music entertainment services to operators worldwide, using the ADORA content delivery platform from Digital World Service (DWS). As part of TELUS’ ongoing commitment to protect artists’ rights, the company has selected SDC, a leader in rich-media mobile Digital Rights Management (DRM), to provide full DRM protection and the SDC DRM Java Music player client application on copyrighted music content for both the subscriptions offering and the a-la-carte service.
